Show to Shops..Isabel Marant

Victoria Beckham, Nicky Hilton, Beyonce Knowles all in Isabel Marant
Isabel Marant is only getting bigger and bigger as a brand. Those cuff heels, the tweedy jackets, fringe boots...the list goes on. Everything this brand does turns into fash-pack gold. High street copies of Marant's bold statement pieces are few and far between, so I am thrilled to see that Oasis has done a great version of the Keni leather biker jacket. Beyonce, VB and Nicky Hilton have been spotted, and the jacket has sold out on My-Theresa, despite the £1630 price tag.
Oasis quilted leather jacket, £160

The Oasis version is in stores now for a cracking £160. A tenth of the IM price!

Details...The Animal Ring-dom

I adore cocktail rings. The bigger the better! Always on the hunt for unusual ones, I have encountered a plethora of ones with animal-details lately. I remember seeing this first last summer when we were shooting A/W'10 and Alberta Ferretti had the most beautiful beetle jewellery. From then I've been looking for something similar. Enjoy the below- they are my absolute favourites!

Trendalicious...bracelet overload

It started last winter with a few jewellery designers turning their hands to simpler designs using inexpensive materials like leather and silk to create their bracelet designs. This was a genius way of letting us all feel like we're still byuing designer pieces without having to invest in seriously pricey gold. Essentially designer friendship bracelets became the new Chanel lipstick.
But this trend has seriously blown up for summer and already I have a tonne of leather wrap and encrusted fabric bracelets stacked along my left arm. These beauties fall into three categories; I am quite happy to dabble in them all depending on my mood, and more importantly, my proximity to reaching my overdraft limit.

The first group we love are leather wrap bracelets, with Alexander McQueen and Marc Jacobs leading the way and Next doing a beautiful high street version.

Top Row: Marc by Marc Jacobs £75, Ralph Lauren Black Label £175, Balenciaga £125
2nd Row: Next £10, M&S £16, Kitson £25
3rd Row: DKNY £45, Vita Fede @ Austique £175, Reiss £35
Bottom Row: £190 Alexander McQueen

Next up are the designer dainties. EC One has an incredible selection from really talented up-and-coming jewellery designers, but you won't get off lightly price-wise with this lot. The majority are made from gold and silver so are very deserving of their higher price points.

Top Row: Mitos £106 EC One + Corinne Hamak Unity Bangle £327
2nd Row: Helene Turbe £129 + Mirri Damer £192
3rd Row: Lindsay Pearson £81 + EC One workshop £195
Bottom Row: Selim Mouzannar £502

Finally, come the sturdy stackers. These are mostly cotton and metal little numbers and can be worn with just one or two with a watch (I do this with my Dower and Hall and Links ones) or as a huge bundle dominating your forearm. They're colourful and fun, and way more affordable than splashing the cash on 18ct gold!

Top Row: George @ Asda £4, Internacionale £3.99
Bottom Row: Lipsy £10, Chan Luu £210

Trendalicious...Denim Jackets

Famour faces have been out in force this week, all favouring a very specific clothing combo - denim jackets and bare legs! It is a perfect summer ensemble; keeping tanned pins on show while keeping it classy and covering up the torso. Classy ladies indeed.
Our favourite has to be Hailee Steinfeld, who paired her with a Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti dress and biker boots. Really age-appropriate and cutey while having series label credentials. For a more casual look, Nicky Hilton teamed hers with all black, Nicola Roberts was SO beautiful and bright in Suno and Cameron Diaz looked elegant with a nude and white ensemble arriving at Good Morning America earlier in the week. Nice work laydeeees.

Star Pupil...Beyonce

This woman couldn't be much more amazing. After the satorial feast that was the video for Run the World, her new album's pics are the icing on the cake. We LOVE her style, and furry gilets, colour popping and show stopping gowns...we can't WAIT to see what costumes she pulls out of the bag at Glasto next weekend. Bring it B!

We heart...

I have just seen a sneaky peek of the boots dropping into Zara shortly. I am a real Zara-phile but they have absolutely outdone themselves this time. The little selection of booties are sooooo chic and really quite wild for the high street. I plan on getting the snakeskin ones tout suite, they're the best I've ever seen.

Over and out,

Star Pupil...Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Left: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley wearing Stella McCartney. Image courtesy of glamourmagazine.co.uk
Right: Topshop Limited Edition dress, £150 www.topshop.com
It was only yesterday that I was perusing Topshop.com and came across this beautiful dress, which it seems is a perfectly priced alternative for Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's Stella McCartney gown she sported at the Glamour Awards last night. I realise only a lumps and bumps-free beanpole can pull this slinky number off, but if Show Shoppers donned multi-layers of spanx and a pair of stilts, we'd be all over this dress. It would help of course if we also had Rosie's Louboutins, Ferragamo bag and Tiffany & Co. earrings. Yeh that'd be nice.

A welcome break from a summer of colour block overkill (eek and it is only the first week n June!).

News FASH...and its a collaboration!

I LOVE collaborations, of any description really. They make me unusually excited. And this one is no different. Gareth Pugh and MAC have collaborated for a collection of products and accessories, due in stores from November. MAC and Pugh have worked together on his shows since he set up seven years ago and we're thrilled that their working relationship has turned into a full scale collaboration.

Can't wait to get our greedy paws on those bad boys,

Shows to Shops: Prada SS/10

Left: Prada SS/10 courtesy of style.com Right: £65, www.oasis-stores.com

This season there are coloured stripes and banana prints all over the high street all thanks to Miuccia and her SS/10 Prada show. As usual Prada has been one of the major influences on high street trends, and that isn't a bad thing.I spotted this fabulous Oasis number whilst selecting for a shoot and fell in love. It is sooo Prada it's unreal. Right now it is top of my wish list, all I need is an oversized floppy straw hat, some raffia wedges and an invitation to a glam party on a yacht.

I have always had a rather inappropriate girl-crush on Daisy Lowe. that smile, that body. Gorgeous. Though she's usually snapped mincing around various festivals in a denim cut-off, band tee and boot combo, she absolutely rocked the red carpet at the Bafta awards last weekend in an exquisite Craig Lawrence black knit dress.

The floor length creation is not only completely in keeping with the sexy-goth thing that's going on in fash-land at the moment, but it is also nods to the sheer peek-a-boo movement, all the while being the most outrageously flattering dress, clinging to her silhouette while discreetly keeping upper arms under wraps. Genius.

Should Lawrence's one sell out (and we reckon it will), we've rounded up some other delish alternatives above.

Shows to Shops...Christopher Kane to French Connection

Left to right: Christopher Kane SS11 image courtesy of style.com, Coral dress £115 www.frenchconnection.com

There’s no denying the spring summer 11 catwalks were filled with lashings of vibrant colour and the Christopher Kane show was no exception. This collection combined fluro colours, lace and stripes all mixed in with signature Kane-esq prints. There was a lot going on in this collection but it all worked together in perfect fashion harmony.

French Connection have graced us with this gorgeous coral pleated dress which definitely has a Christopher Kane vibe about it. FC have hit the colour block nail on the head with this one making the lairy trend wearable for the high street shopper. Coral is one of the hues that suits most skin and hair colours, the skirt length is just right to flatter rather than swamp and the pleats disguise rather than highlight any imperfections.

French Connection we applaud you for taking the scary out of the brights/pleated catwalk creation and giving us this ray of style sunshine.

We heart...shared shades

Whether you're totally on board the super current androgynous trend or, ahem, like me have a larger than average size head *lowers said large head*, donning a man's pair of sunglasses has never been more socially acceptable we reckon. I have been favouring an old pair of Linda Farrow wayfarers of late, but due to some serious sitting/dropping damage, it is time to replace. Ciao pay check.

Mr Porter has an AMAZING selection which I love, especially these little beauties below...

Thanks to fashion's finest, plastic has lost its seedy rep and has transformed into a chic way to modernise one's ensemble. My absolute favourite are these Chloe suede trimmed pumps, but here's a few of my favourite to feast your eyes on.

News Fash: The Oxfam Curiosity Shop at Selfridges

In between catching some welcomed sunshine over the weekend Show Shoppers popped down to the vintage girl's paradise that was The Oxfam Curiosity Shop at Selfridges. The Ultra Lounge had been filled with not just chic, collectable beauties but many key on trend pieces for this season and all at purse friendly prices.

Celebrities such as Scarlett Johansson, Florence Welch, Kate Moss and Laura Bailey had donated their own clothes and accessories to the shop, making riffling through the rails much more exciting than the usual vintage trawl. We found ourselves looking at the tags of everything we touched to see who had worn them. One lucky shopper had snapped up Miss Johansson's Dolce and Gabbana dress to wear at a wedding, talk about upstaging the bride!

We took up the style challenge to style up a volunteer worker in our favourite pieces. We chose a Jaeger blue and black striped (very Prada-esq) pleated skirt, with a pink Paul Smith tee, a gold vintage jacket, some t-bar Charlotte Olympia heels, donated by Whistles CEO Jane Shepherdson and a yellow waist belt donated by Dido. The shop was so impressed they put our look straight on the mannequin. We also couldn't resist trying on some of the pieces ourselves. We found this gorge mad men style bright pink pencil skirt a bargain at £15 and this ah-may-zing Ashish sparkly top donated by singer, V.V. Brown.

Last year the shop raised a glorious £250,000 which went towards Oxfam's women's projects and this year, with the stock they had, we reckon they could top that. Shopping for a good cause, don't mind if we do!

Trendalicious...The unassuming shopper

I have just finished a rather long job shooting out of London, so upon arrival back into the big smoke I was greeted with not only glorious sunshine, but some AMAZING new Spring trends. Summer is no longer a distant memory and women the country over are already braving their bare, and often a wee bit pasty, flesh. While the days are balmy, there's no denying our chilly evenings, so smart Londoners have ditched their satchels and are keeping evening cardigans in luxury shoppers instead.
Zara £69.99 www.zara.com , Jil Sander £445 www.net-a-porter.com, Celine, p.o.a, Selfridges

I first saw this beautiful Celine sample while shooting main fashion last winter and although it was dreamy, I wasn't sure if the high street would ditch the hardware and patent trimmings to embrace such a simple style. But alas, where Phoebe Philo goes the fashion world will follow, and here are our three favorites. Enjoy!

We heart...relaunch of Chelsea Girl!

Yesterday news reached us that iconic high street brand of the 1960's to 1980's Chelsea Girl is to relaunch for SS'11. In 1988 Chelsea Girl changed to become high street giant River Island. And for the first time (as Show Shoppers were toddlers first time around)we are going to get to wear it too! River Island have brought in Lucy Moller to design the collection under the watchful eye of Farida Kaikobad, who worked on the original Chelsea Girl designs first time around.

The collection's price-point will be cheaper than mainline River Island, and is aimed at a slightly younger customer. So perhaps we won't be donning their perfectly on trend Seventies style flares and denim skirts after all! We would like to get our greedy little paws on the navy jumpsuit and one of those black felt hats though, age appropriate or not!

The collection launches on March 24th and even Selfridges are jumping on board by hosting a Chelsea Girl pop-up shop to celebrate. We can't wait!

Fashion week news-FASH

Images courtesy of Telegraph tv
Never have we heard the phrase "man of the moment" quite so much as we did yesterday. Haider Ackermann, the Columbian born Belgian designer caused a serious stir in Paris with his beautiful A/W'11 offerings. Not only did he wow fashion eds the world over with a dark, luxe, expertely draped collection, but the rumour mill was also in full spin as to which fashion house will snap him up next. Currently working under his own successful name, Ackermann was previously offered the job at Maison Martin Margiela, but reckoned it wasn't the perfect fit. The most obvious move would be to replace John Galliano at Dior following Galliano's dismissal, but Givenchy has been mentioned by some SERIOUS insiders too so we'll need to watch this space.

In the meantime, enjoy a few pics of yesterday's flawless and regal (in a wearable wear- yes we're talking to you PPQ!) collection. Enjoy!!!

We heart...fashion week footwear

Us Show Shoppers have been running around like frenzied mad-women during London fashion week; attending great shows, lots of afterparties and doing some serious famous-face spotting. So we will update REALLY soon with all the juice from Somerset House, but in the meantime, I'd like to take a moment to give a big thanks to the hardest-working members of our team, our SHOES! Here's what I've been wearing so far, my Be&D flat boots, black lace up Jimmy Choos and THOSE shearling cream and black Manolo's. (and like the Isabel Marant grey sweater and skirt? It's new, and SO not warm enough for it in freezing Feb but who cares!) More soon from LFW and Show Shoppers...

Trendalicious: Skater dresses

From L-R: Azzaro S'11, Alberta Ferretti, Preen Resort

My absolute fail safe go-to for summer is a skater dress, so naturally I am delighted they're all over the catwalk and high street this season. They cover up the problem tummy/hip area, and the full skirt is super flattering for one's thighs too. I tend to go for an elbow length sleeve (a la Joseph last season) and a shorter skirt, so that it covers the upper arms and is can be worn in the summer with flats and bare legs. I've already started wearing mine (yes I am in rainy cold London too) but have paired with an oversized cropped knit and opaque tights until the temperature gets into the late teens at least!

At various awards after parties Hollywood's coolest girls are already championing this trend; Hailee Steinfeld rocked the Alberta Ferretti number above recently, while Rachel Bilson is rarely seen in anything else. From the runway 3.1 Philip Lim, Azzaro, Preen Resort and Erdem led the way, and below is our pick of the best from the high street.

Today's special... Mih Marrakesh jeans

www.donnaida.com

There's not been a fashionista I've spoken to who doesn't have a pair of Marrakeshs at the top of their denim dream list. Whilst flares are having a jean moment the Mih Marrakeshs are THE flares to be seen in. I simply need a pair and haven't lusted after a trouser this much since my quest for a pair of Houlihans, which thankfully had a very happy ending. I called in a few pairs of Marrakeshs for a shoot last week and that's what gave them a place on my wish list. They fit great and really are super flattering. I especially love where they sit on the hip. High enough but not quite high-waisted, which really doesn't work on me.

When worn with a good heel or wedge no jean shape makes your legs gain as many extra inches quite like the skinny flare, . When I wore my flares for the first time this season I was a bit unsure, I felt like I'd joined the 70's gang. All I needed was some tan and orange, platforms, and a floppy hat. Now I love them and actually right now love them more then my skinnies, which is really saying something as I am a skinny addict.

The skinny flare mostly suits the tall and long legged, however I am neither and they work for me. As always with jeans it's getting the best fit and length for you, it helps if you know a good tailor to help you with any extra inches. Also decide whether you will wear them with heels or flats as this makes a major difference to leg length. I prefer mine with chunky 70's heels but if you choose for flats go for a smarter flat like a loafer. Get yourself to denim dream boutique Donna Ida to pick up your pair, hurry as these are very popular jeans indeed!

Best served with: Wedges, a sheer blouse and a fisherman's chunky knit to take you perfectly from winter to spring.

News Fash: Kate Moss Engaged

Rebecca Street at Browns Bride

The legend that is la moss is engaged to rocker beau Jamie Hince. While I'm very excited and happy for her, let's face it, my first thought was the dress. With her power to look incredible in anything it's too hard to predict the style of gown she will grace us with but here are a few of my suggestions. I can't really see her in a full on poofy princess dress, but I do think she'll choose something similar to the above simple, slinky Rebecca Street gown. Whatever she wears it's pretty much guaranteed Mrs Moss on her wedding day will be on our Star Pupil list.

Shows to shops: Maxi skirts and crisp white shirts

I have been desperately looking forward to Spring/Summer'11since the shows last September. Scrap that, I always look forward to SS. No winter clothes suit me and I can't stand the layers. Not to mention I love a bare leg, ankle boot and dress ensemble as much as the combined cast of The City. So February is upon us and I am getting reeeeally impatient. So perusing my catwalk notes I came across one trend that happily is one of those "transitional" little numbers. One can start easing myself into the glorious brights and single layers of Spring's wardrobe without freezing one's behind off on exiting the tube station. Enter: The maxi skirt and crisp white shirt look. Jil Sander OWNED this look last season, but we saw it everywhere from Paul and Joe (above) to Akris and Giambattista Valli.

I never wear long sleeve shirts, as they interfere with my chunky watches and multiple bracelets, so this season I will be continuing to wear my Thomas Pink short sleeve white shirt (these are always available for £68 every season) as well as a nice 3/4 length number from COS or Zara. Need inspiration? Enjoy our pick of the best below...

After marvelling at the rainbow of block colours coming down the S/S catwalks I'm so excited to see summer colours already in the shops. It may not be a revolution that bright colours are big this summer but it's the way designers clashed them together that gives me inspiration for my summer wardrobe. Navy is about as bright as it gets when it comes to colour in my closet, but this coming season I have made a vow to myself to inject some colour into my look.  I probably won't do the bright on bright block colour trend but I will mix my individual brights with some nude pieces which also works really well. Jewel colours are my favourites and here are a few pieces that have caught my eye.

We heart: Non-bridal wedding dresses from the runway!

I remember a conversation a few years ago with my former fashion ed, where we both agreed that should any charming young men ever want to tie the knot with us, that we could never have a generic wedding dress. Bridal designers are fantastic, but at the moment I'd be much happier to shop the runway for the big day.

A-muse-ments: Black Swan

After being excited by the extreme fashion hype since it was announced Rodarte would be designing the costumes, hearing rave reviews and being seriously seduced by the trailer I finally got to see Black Swan. And I have to say I was for once lost for words. If I had to sum it up in one word I would use powerful. It's probably one of the most powerful films I've ever seen. Through the duration of the film I moved through nearly every emotion I can think of. I was excited, anxious, sad, scared, nauseated, annoyed and very amazed. And even after nearly a week since seeing it I'm still humming Tchaikovsky's swan lake and replaying scenes in my head.

I really hope Miss Portman gets the Oscar for her role playing Nina. I can not think of anyone more suited to the part. She is graceful in every moment of the film and her natural, effortless beauty really shows. Maybe it was the new love blossoming in the air giving her that extra glow. Aside from her looks the part is clearly demanding especially on her body. Even though already petite she had to endure a strict diet to shrink to the tiny proportions of a prima ballerina and then of course the super intense ballet training. You can clearly see it is her during the dance scenes and it's not easy to pull off all those pirouettes.

The costumes were stunning. I wish they could somehow be adapted so I could  wear them both in my everyday life. They would easily slip into my wardrobe monochrome, feathers and sparkle three of my favourite things. Ever since seeing the film I've found it impossible to not wear all black, not that it ever takes me much persuasion.  Fashion is a great disguise. My character is the opposite of my favourite things to wear. I love wearing black, faux fur, studs, leather, black lace and all things dark and tough. But my personality is far from tough, much more demure and reserved. My character is all white swan but my wardrobe couldn't be more black swan.

White or black which swan queen are you?

I absolutely adore Raoul's SS'11 offering at the King's Road go-to for great labels, The Shop at Bluebird this Spring. All these pretty little nude items are so wearable, and really remind me of the Chloe and Celine simple nude school of design. The price points are great too, generally ranging from £100-£250. Star Pupil...Olivia Wilde

To be honest not many gowns really stood out to me at the Golden Globes last night. However, the only one that made me gasp, ooh and ahh was Olivia Wilde's Marchesa, magical ensemble. A real princess dress to befit a real princess. (She married the son of a real Italian prince!)

Many actresses end up looking more bridal than regal when attempting to pull off a full tulle skirt, but the dark shade of this dress means there's no chance of anybody waiting in the side lines to catch the bouquet. The contrasting colours also give her extra sparkle.

Keeping any jewellery and accessories to an absolute minimum is exactly what this dress needs. Extra brownie points for the natural classic make up and soft hair.

Trendalicious: Indigo details

Seeing indigo on the runway again is a huge relief after a seasonal saturation of camel and red for A/W’10. Camel and red really worked for the blond haired Amazonian types among us, but for the rest of us, it all got a bit librarian does “splash of colour”. I aged twenty years while trying to rock the look. Thankfully, like all these unwearable trends (Yes midi skirts and harem trousers I’m talking to you too), they are just that, and as the season winds down, we can look forward to brighter pastures, this time blue ones. The hue for Spring’s palette is pretty specific, and can only be compared to the sky on a cloudless July afternoon. Outside of the British Isles, naturally.
Indigo has infiltrated all aspects of ready to wear, seen on the runways of both womenswear and menswear.  At the menswear shows we saw some bright blue footwear at Tommy Hilfiger and Acne, shirting at Calvin Klein collection and DKNY, outerwear at Jil Sander, accessories at Dunhill and Diesel Black Gold, and trousers at Michael Kors, Dickie Brown and Bottega Veneta. Kors absolutely embraced the luxury casual mood of spring, and kept his collection hugely wearable; achieved by designing a great range of trousers and not limiting a SS collection to a variety of white shorts as is ofter seen on the season’s catwalks. These included a loose fitting pyjama style trouser in Indigo with thin white pinstripes. Here Kors paired them with taupes and greys, the perfect complement to the brilliance of a hue so blue.
Then came the women’s RTW shows and the trend transformed into a seasonal phenomenon. While keeping true to the Italian house’s flamboyant style, Peter Dundas created a colourful and sexy Emilio Pucci collection for Spring Summer. Most of the lighter paisley looks had elements of indigo incorporated, as well as some great blocks of blue in full looks too- notably the full length silk indigo maxi dress, and the blue paisley long sleeved mini dress, which was a favourite  style of ours from his A/W show too.

Even my supreme man-crush Mr.Depp has indulged in a little blue, this time his aviators. I love him, and I love blue too!

A-muse-ments...Gucci's 3D glasses

A handful of designers have embraced technlogy in the most random way this season, and are producing 3D glasses to take to the cinema/to watch on a 3D tv. God forbid anyone should spot you donning a paper spectacle at Toy Story 3.

It is completely insasne, but I love it and am totally embracing it. It makes sense too- Frangrance used to be a cheap way of owning something designer, but now that you can pick that up at any old Boots, the people need something else, slightly more glamerous but not too much more pricey. Naturally enough, that thing is 3D glasses. CRAZY!

Armani Exchange and Oakley have done some cool ones, but these ones by Gucci are by far the most groovy.

Trendalicious...Contrast Satchels

Top row; Paul Smith £265, Boohoo.com £28, Chloe £875
Bottom row; Proenza Schouler £1085, New Look £12.99, Miu Miu £795
I bought a satchel at the beginning of A/W, and was surprised to find that I still wanted another over Christmas, once this new contrasting colour and fabric trend emerged in satchel-land. I find mine oh so useful; I wear it on my arm during the day, with the long strap dangling down, and tucked in for a slightly neater look in the evenings.

I love these contrasting colourful numbers, and the trend has trickled down from designer to high street really fast. I feel like the above are quite preppy, but in a very Parisian minimalist way, so I would wear them with my ole faithful Breton 3/4 sleeve, an ankle skimming black fitted trouser and some of Show Shoppers favourite Russell and Bromley penny loafers.

Bon Appetite Show Shoppers,

Today's Special...

£155, www.lauraleejewllery.com

Since Showshoppers are right now blogging to you from Disneyworld I thought it very fitting that this bracelet should get its very own magical moment. I have called in Laura Lee jewellery for shoots a countless amount of times, and every time find new pieces to add to my wish list. Right now topping the list is this delicate bracelet in the rose gold plated option. Since at present my head is filled to the brim with wishes and Disney dreams this is right up my street. I plan on wearing it along side a rose gold Michael Kors watch (also high on my never-ending wish list!)

Best served with…
Everything. This is the kind of piece you won't want to take off. It looks great for everyday worn alone or on a night out piled alongside lashings of trinkets.
